WEDNESDAY 10/7/13

No two trips are identical.
This morning Dion Jeffrey & I got up before 5am to have a sunrise float in the Dead Sea. It was still, it was quiet & it was dark. At the water’s edge, the guys slipped silently into the very warm water & I had my camera ready. As dawn approached, other people appeared & also slid in to the water silently. My camera clicked away as the light grew stronger. A low band of cloud delayed the sunrise over Jordan, but when the sun eventually peeked over the top, it shimmered right across the water towards us. By this stage, “I had thrown caution to the wind” & was standing almost to my shoulders in the water still clicking away with my camera. Yep, I was in photography seventh heaven!!

After checking out of the hotel, we arrived at Eretz Bereishit once more, to ride our camels back to the time of Abraham, & to partake of his hospitality. Yes, it was acting out another Bible story for Ayden. There were a couple of anxious moments getting on the camels but they all loved the experience even in the heat. Abraham (from Chadstone) was once again in top form!

One of Abraham’s helpers tipped Dion off about a natural spring a few minutes drive further along the rode in the middle of the desert, so we decided to check it out. It was quite a steep four minute hike from the car down to the spring, but what a scene with flowing water out of the ground, waterfalls, streams & a solidly built structure with conveniences etc., very civilized & lots of young people & kids on school holiday day camps. Everyone had a dip in the water to cool off, then back in the car to return to TLV.

Once again WAZE took us a different route skirting Jerusalem & actually taking us through an opening in “the security wall”. We were either in or very close to Ramallah. Another different experience!

In TLV, we unpacked, did the washing & while Kylie did some retail therapy, Jeffrey & Dion took the kids to the beach.
We had a delicious late dinner at MAGANDA, a kosher meat restaurant a short walk from our apartment.
Big day for all!!
