MONDAY 8/7/13

We’re sitting at the dinner table at Isrotel Dead Sea, the kids have just gone off to play, & the band in the adjoining lounge bar is playing “What a Wonderful World".
We are blessed!

After breakfast this morning, we packed the car & set off on our tiyul to the Dead Sea.
The best thing about the new Kia Carnival car we hired for this 3 weeks, is that apart from the 7 seats, we have a boot big enough to take a suitcase, a stroller & extra small bags. No strapping cases on to the roof!!

First stop was LATRUN. This time we had a male soldier show us around. The kids including Harley, proceeded to climb on every tank. They loved it. We saw a different movie from last time about the tank brigades & it was very emotional. We were also taken to see the Memorial of Tears, a room which was originally one of the gun towers in the old fortress, its walls lined with the panels of old tanks many of which have bullet & mortar holes. These walls have water dripping down them into puddles of tears on the stones under the glass floor. Wow, what a powerful memorial. I was surprised that we weren’t shown it last time..

This time WAZE took us to Ein Bokek a different way, down the centre of Israel on highway 6 through Arad & winding down to the Dead Sea. We hadn’t been that way before & the view from the lookout on the way down was truly spectacular! 41 degrees here today!
After we registered at the hotel & had late lunch & a quick swim in the hotel pool, we ventured across the road to the Dead Sea which really has an awe inspiring aura. This time the water was hot (even hotter than a bath)! The kids had various cuts etc on their feet, so it was quite painful for them. However the lure was great, & after a few attempts, they succumbed long enough to have quite a few photos.

Ayden & Joss are writing daily diaries with photos on the iPad minis in the Evernote diary app. I love it! It is quite simple & they are really enjoying it.

So back to the pool till it closed at 6:45pm. Then DKAJH had showers & went for a wander in town till we met back at the hotel for dinner.
No Internet here so photos will have to wait till we return to TLV on Wednesday afternoon.
It was a great day & now we are ready for bed.. zzz
