WEDNESDAY 19/6/13

The theme of the 2013 President’s Conference which started this morning is “TOMORROW”. Today’s program went all day till 8pm non stop. I assume it’s similar to Limmud Oz on a massive scale with speakers from all around the world, & 5000 participants. There were 3 plenary sessions, & then 3 sessions where you could choose between 5 different sub-sessions, as well as a choice for a master class. It was a very big logistical challenge to choose & get to all the sessions. We did the main ones together & split for the rest.
The topics included every aspect of Israel, the future, the world in relation to Israel, economics, finance, media, technology & much much more.
The first session about leadership was inspiring. Some of the main points made include the following:
Nothing stays the same so what now - leadership steps in, taking responsibility, stepping up when others step down & knowing that you can expect negativity.
When you’re a leader you’re expected to know.. but you don’t.
Stick with what you believe, even if it makes you unpopular.
Honesty, efficiency & working together & not as a hierarchy
There is an opportunity in every setback & every challenge. You have to seek it out.
Strength optimism & confidence are the key to leadership.

We heard speakers such as Shimon Peres, Tony Blair, Bill Clinton (who received a peace prize), Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, Doctor Ruth (master class on sex) & many many other distinguished world leaders in their field.

It was a very big day, inspirational & interesting.

And when I was dreaming about going to sleep, we had dinner arrangements at the kosher Japanese called Bonsai, with the Rogers & also the Mahemoffs, which turned out to be a lot of fun & a late night zzz
