TUESDAY 18/6/13

So we didn’t make the 1st cut for President Shimon Peres’ 90th birthday party with Barbra Streisand. Never mind coz the runners up got to hear an amazing acceptance speech by actress Sharon Stone who today was presented with the Isaiah Award for Peace. She spoke softly & calmly about what each person can do towards personal & world peace. Not sure there was much tachlis or substance, but it sounded nice. BTW, she looks pretty good for 55 years old.
Next on the agenda was a bus ride to the Office of the Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu. More stringent security & he was running 15 minutes late so his first remark was, “if you’re running late, speak less!” Our loss! He’s great. I love to hear him talk & I think he really makes a lot of sense.
Dinner provided at the Mamilla cafe, outside on the roof. They had lots of screens to watch Shimon Peres Birthday party.
It was a great production with speeches & entertainment. Eyal Golan, Shlomo Artzi & Barbra Streisand (Avinu Malkeinu & People) all said a few words & sang two songs each. Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, Bibi & Shimon Peres all made beautiful speeches. The common thread of every speech was that Peres is a man of vision, a special man with a dream, who follows his dream, who has convictions & principles & a heart!
The bonus is that we get to see a whole Barbra concert this coming Saturday night as well!
This morning while Jeffrey went to the Keren Hayesod Cabinet meeting, I met Eli Shilo for a drink at Aroma in the Mamilla Centre. It was great to catch up with him. However, even though he offered to take me dancing here in Jerusalem this week, it’s not going to happen. Too busy!
