FRIDAY 7/6/13

Barry Brott arrived for breakfast on the terrace this morning straight from the airport. He seemed to be relaxed & not at all tired from the long journey. It was so good to see him.
After Jeffrey dropped him at his hotel, we packed the car & left for Jerusalem. WAZE & Jeffrey delivered us directly to our new apartment at King David Residence, a 2yo bldg across the road from David Citadel. Very spacious & modern with views over the city. We dropped our bags & headed for the Museum on the Seam, a museum recommended by numerous people. WAZE wasn’t so reliable for the first time & took us in the opposite direction. After making some enquiries, we arrived at the museum with only 50 minutes till closing time before Shabbat. Well, words cannot describe what we saw, suffice to say we all disliked (to put it mildly) the whole experience. I honestly don’t know how any of it could be called art!

Back to reality at the Mamilla Mall for a light lunch, a walk to Ben Yehuda street (shops already closed) & a rest before Shabbat. The four of us went to the Kotel for Kabbalat Shabbat. Just by coincidence, today marks the 46th anniversary of Israel’s return to the Kotel, a very special day to visit! Being at the Kotel generally & especially with our family members, makes me very emotional. Kate & I shared a few special moments together while waiting for the guys.
We ate Shabbat dinner at the Mamilla hotel. I’d never been inside & it is amazingly designed & fitted out. The presentation & flavors of the food, as well as the service, were top class. So wonderful to share this amazing experience with Rohan & Kate.
Shabbat shalom!
