SUNDAY 26/5/13
Today we visited Beit GOVRIN archaeological dig one hour’s drive from Tel Aviv. Our guide Missy, immediately recognized G&O from Ulpan days 20 years ago. She was their madricha!!! WOW!! What a coincidence!!
Together with two other families, we climbed down into the cave called Lumpy. Missy explained how the cities were built on top of each other & how they found the remains of each civilization in layers. We then became the archaeologists, with picks & spades, we dug & sifted & found quite a few pieces of ancient pottery. Chloe, Addi & especially Noah & Orly, loved digging in the dirt & finding hidden treasures. It was another successful tiyul & the last for this family on this trip.
This afternoon Orly & I went off together for manicures & pedicures, which was great fun. Then out for an early dinner with the kids to Armando on the beach.
Even though we have covered a lot of territory, the last 3 weeks have flown by so quickly & tomorrow night CONGA leave Israel for Hong Kong.
