THURSDAY 23/5/13
After breakfast we left the Dead Sea area after a wonderful mini holiday from our holiday. After just over an hour׳s drive, we arrived at Genesis land, ארץ בראשית.
We were met by Abraham’s helper (from Bjble days) who explained who he was & what we were going to see & experience. We dressed in ancient robes & mounted camels to travel back in time to the era of Abraham. The kids were great & loved the camel ride. As we dismounted the camels & called Abraham, he came out of his tent to greet us. We washed our hands & entered his tent going back thousands of years. He explained how different life was then with a sense of humour. We drank water & ate dried fruits. Then went outside to make pita bread on the fire, which we then ate with oil & zata. (In fact this Abraham was an Aussie in his previous life.. hysterical!) Back on the camels to travel back to the 21st century. A fun experience for all. Jeffrey expertly drove us back to TA in a little over an hour. Lunch, unpacking, rests, washing & then Gav & Jeffrey went swimming with the kids in the pool. Tonight Jeffrey & I went 1 ½ hours in peak hour traffic to a special celebration at one of the Keren Hayesod (UIA) youth villages for underprivileged children, Ben Yakir. It was a celebration of the Bar Mitzvah for 22 of the boys from the village. Beautifully set tables outside where dinner was served with a stage where the boys performed lots of songs, & speeches and presentations were made. Then.. fireworks!! What a beautiful & meaningful celebration for the boys, their teachers & their families!
