THURSDAY 25/7/13
Josie Ulman born 25/7/1922, would have been 91 years young today!
Early start this morning for a very exciting day trip to the Karmiel Dance Festival (final day of 3).
Thanks to WAZE & the expert driving of Jeffrey, we picked up Elly Mizrahi/Shalev just past the port & continued directly north to Karmiel in just under 2 hours. As it was before noon & early for festival time, we parked the car & had a look around before Jeffrey left for his side tiyul to Safed. He told us later that he had a bit of a rest near the tents before he headed off.
I met Chana Shuvaly & we went to watch the choreography competition. Elly Shalev was performing but didn’t get a place. It was a lot of fun to watch.
Afterwards we wandered around & I met Shlomo Maman who had arranged for tickets to the closing ceremony for us.
We danced for over two hours on the basketball courts with lots of people. Jeffrey came back from Safed & met us there.
By this stage there were thousands of people around the place & many different dance activities. Lots of different food stalls everywhere, rides for the kids, as well as a sports oval totally lined with market stalls of jewelry, clothes, toys etc.
At 9:00pm we headed to the amphitheater for the closing performance.. A wonderful band, a huge selection of young performing groups from all over Israel & abroad, a comedian singer, Dana International, & to top it all off, a magnificent fireworks display. And what a professional production put together by Shlomo Maman!
We left straight after it finished & drove back to TLV. It was a challenging drive for Jeffrey after such a big day & we ended up stopping for a 10 minute power nap in Netanya. The roads were busy & the tayellet still packed with people. Arrived home after 2:30am, showered & fell into bed zzz
